DENVER ~ Today, Governor Polis announced updates to his communications staff. Maria De Cambra, who has served as the Governor's Communications and Community Engagement Director since the beginning of his first term, will begin serving as Executive Director of the Department of Local Affairs on December 4th.
Conor Cahill will take over as the Governor's Communications Director. Cahill has been with the Governor's team since 2019, when he served as press secretary for the House Democratic Caucus at the Colorado State Legislature. Prior to that, he worked for U.S. Senator Edward J. Markey on Capitol Hill, managing and advancing digital communications and advising on legislative issues.
Governor Polis expressed his confidence in Cahill's abilities: "Conor has been a strong voice and dedicated member of my administration for five years and I am thrilled that he will continue serving Colorado and our team as communications director. Conor's experience and leadership have been essential to communicating our goals for Colorado, delivering critical information to the public, and navigating some of our state's most challenging times. He is a trusted advisor, thoughtful leader, and a fierce advocate for building a Colorado For All."

Shelby Wieman will take over as Press Secretary from her previous role as speechwriter since 2020 and deputy press secretary to former Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. Governor Polis praised Wieman's experience: "Shelby is one of the longest-serving and most trusted members of my team. Throughout Shelby's time as our speech writer, she has composed hundreds of speeches and proven her ability to excel in any situation. This experience and her natural ability to lead a team will ensure we continue to effectively communicate with Coloradans about important issues facing our state."
The changes in Gov. Polis' communications staff come at an important time for Colorado's future development plans; with these new appointments in place, it is clear that Gov. Polis is confident in their abilities to help him achieve his goals for the state moving forward.
