Mayor Yemi honors Ed Ragain Saturday with Spirit of Colorado Springs Award

~ Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade honored Ed Ragain, founder and former owner of the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC, with the prestigious Spirit of Colorado Springs Award today. The award recognizes Ragain's impactful leadership and community spirit, which have transformed the sports landscape of the city.

In a ceremony at City Hall, Mayor Yemi praised Ragain for his visionary leadership and civic pride that have breathed new life into Olympic City USA's sports culture. He stated that the Switchbacks are a source of pride for Colorado Springs and that Ragain's leadership reflects the spirit of collaboration and excellence celebrated by the Spirit of Colorado Springs Award.

Ragain is an accomplished engineer and businessman, known for founding ME Engineers, a Colorado-based firm that has become an international leader in engineering design. Under his guidance, ME Engineers has developed broadcast lighting design guidelines for major sports organizations such as FIFA, MLS, NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, and the Olympic Broadcast Systems. His contributions to the field of sports engineering have set the industry standard.

In addition to his success in engineering, Ragain also made a significant impact in entrepreneurship within the sports arena by establishing the Switchbacks FC franchise. Under his ownership, the team qualified for playoffs in six out of ten seasons and secured both a Western Conference Championship and USL Championship Title in 2024.
