Denver Landscape Lighting Completes Custom Outdoor Lighting Project in Denver's Historic Park Hill Neighborhood

Trending...
DENVER, COLORADO — Denver Landscape Lighting recently completed a custom landscape lighting installation at a residence in Denver's Historic Park Hill neighborhood, using carefully placed architectural and landscape lighting to showcase the property's historic character, mature trees and expansive outdoor spaces after dark.

DENVER - ColoradoDesk -- Historic Park Hill is known for its established homes, mature landscapes and distinctive architecture. For this project, the goal was not simply to add more light. The lighting design was created to reveal the character that was already there.

One of the most dramatic elements of the project was the lighting of several majestic, approximately 80-year-old trees throughout the property. Ground-mounted LED uplights were strategically positioned and aimed to illuminate the massive trunks while carrying light upward into the tree canopies.

The result creates vertical depth throughout the property while allowing these mature trees to become nighttime architectural features of their own.

Bringing a Dark Courtyard Back Into View

A small garden fountain located within a previously dark courtyard presented another opportunity.

Rather than overpowering the intimate space, subtle lighting was incorporated around the fountain to bring the water feature and surrounding courtyard back into view after sunset.

The fountain now becomes a nighttime focal point and helps connect the home's architecture with the surrounding landscape.

Highlighting Historic Park Hill Architecture

Architectural lighting played an important role in the overall design.

Carefully positioned fixtures highlight several features of the home, including detailed brickwork, ornamental columns and other elements of its historic architecture.

Instead of flooding the entire façade with bright light, the system uses targeted illumination to reveal texture, dimension and architectural details.

This selective approach allows the home to maintain its historic character while taking on an entirely different appearance after dark.

Improving Walkways, Steps and Outdoor Living Areas

Landscape lighting should be beautiful, but it also needs to make outdoor spaces more comfortable and functional.

Several strategically positioned bollard fixtures were installed around steps, walkways and the rear patio to provide additional visibility in areas where homeowners and guests move through the property at night.

Fixture placement was carefully considered so these areas receive useful illumination without unnecessarily overpowering the surrounding landscape.

Creating Depth Across a Large Park Hill Property

One of the challenges with larger residential lots is preventing the landscape from disappearing into darkness beyond the immediate area surrounding the home.

To address this, Denver Landscape Lighting installed fence-mounted downlights along portions of the property.

These fixtures cast controlled washes of light downward into the landscape, helping visually extend the property after sunset and reveal the depth and scale of the lot.

Combined with the illuminated mature trees, architectural features, fountain, walkways and patio, the different layers of lighting create a cohesive nighttime experience across the property.

Landscape Lighting Is About What You Choose to Light

For Denver Landscape Lighting, successful outdoor lighting is not about illuminating everything.

It is about identifying the features that deserve attention and determining the right fixture, location, beam spread, angle and intensity for each one.

The recently completed Historic Park Hill project demonstrates this philosophy by combining tree uplighting, architectural lighting, fountain lighting, bollard lighting and fence-mounted downlighting into one coordinated design.

During the day, Park Hill's mature trees, historic architecture and established landscapes define the neighborhood.

After dark, the right landscape lighting allows those same features to continue telling the story.
