~ Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade honored United Way CEO and President Cindy Aubrey with the prestigious Inspirational Leader Spirit of Colorado Springs Award at her retirement celebration on Thursday, November 22. The award recognizes Aubrey's unwavering dedication to the Colorado Springs community throughout her career.
In his speech, Mayor Yemi praised Aubrey as an inspiration to all and highlighted her remarkable contributions to the city. He commended her leadership and advocacy, which have left an indelible mark on the community. From fostering collaboration among non-profits to supporting vulnerable residents, Aubrey embodies the spirit of community and has made a lasting impact on Colorado Springs.
A proud native of Colorado and graduate of Mitchell High School, Aubrey has devoted her career to serving her hometown. She began at Fox 21 before moving on to KOAA, where she led the Creative Services and News departments for almost twenty years.

During her time as Chief Communications Officer for the City of Colorado Springs, Aubrey played a crucial role in providing timely and accurate information to residents during challenging times such as the Waldo Canyon and Black Forest fires. Her empathetic approach and commitment to transparency helped guide the community through these crises, earning her a strong reputation in local media.
After four years with the city, Aubrey joined Pikes Peak United Way as Senior Vice President of Marketing before becoming President and CEO. Under her leadership, she spearheaded initiatives that expanded the organization's reach and effectiveness, including the launch of the Family Success Center in southeast Colorado Springs. During her tenure, Pikes Peak United Way celebrated a century of service to the region while forging new partnerships to empower those in need.
The Mayor's Office takes great pride in recognizing exceptional individuals within Colorado Springs through the Inspirational Leader Spirit of the Springs Award.
