DENVER ~ Denver, CO - In a ceremony held today, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, acting as Governor in the absence of Governor Jared Polis who is attending the National Governors Association Convening in New York, signed HB25-1030 into law. The bill, sponsored by Representatives Junie Joseph and Rebekah Stewart and Senators Lisa Cutter and Faith Winter, requires local governments to ensure that their building codes meet or exceed accessibility standards set by international building codes.
During the signing ceremony, Lt. Governor Primavera emphasized the importance of inclusivity and equal opportunity for all Coloradans. She stated that aligning building codes with international accessibility standards not only meets legal requirements but also reinforces Colorado's commitment to creating spaces that are accessible for everyone.

The bill aims to eliminate barriers for individuals with disabilities, including those aging into disabilities, by ensuring that all buildings in Colorado are designed with accessibility in mind. This will allow individuals to live comfortably and navigate their surroundings without limitations, regardless of where they choose to reside within the state.
Governor Polis launched his initiative "Lets Get Ready" as chair of the National Governors Association during his attendance at the Convening in New York. The initiative focuses on driving innovative education policies to improve outcomes for students at all stages of their education journey and prepare them for the needs of Colorado's growing workforce.
