DENVER ~ In a surprising announcement today, Governor Jared Polis revealed that Kim Bimestefer, the Executive Director of the Department of Health Care Policy and Financing (HCPF), will be stepping down from her position in state government. Bimestefer has been in this role since January 2018, serving under both Governors Hickenlooper and Polis. She is the longest-serving HCPF Executive Director, having dedicated nine years to the position. Her last day will be on April 10.

Governor Polis expressed his gratitude for Bimestefer's dedication and passion for improving health care in Colorado. Prior to joining HCPF, Bimestefer served as the local Board Chair, President, and General Manager for Cigna Mountain States. She also founded and developed a $10 billion segment within Cigna that focused on strategy, growth, earnings, and product development for the Taft-Hartley and Federal Employee Health Plan markets. Bimestefer's impressive career includes three successful start-ups and five organizational turnarounds. She has received numerous industry awards and recognition for her contributions to the health care sector.
