ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- We put the heart in "I heart Colorado." Made up of talented and experienced technicians and staff, Heart Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric believes in Colorado and our neighbors. And, as we watched our neighbors to the north and northwest of Denver, escape the destruction of recent wildfires with little more than the clothes on their backs, we knew we needed to help.
On October 28, the Heart Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric family established a GoFundMe campaign with the sole purpose of creating awareness of the devastation, loss, fear and heartbreak felt by the residents now displaced. Inspired by Kyle Clark of 9News' Micro-Giving efforts, we seek to raise $5000, of which 100% of the proceeds go to the Red Cross Colorado Wildfire Relief Fund. All donations go toward sheltering families (and COVID-19 concerns make matters worse), serving meals, delivering relief supplies, providing medical care, supporting emergency responders, and assisting these families with recovery plans.

"The ongoing drought and high temperatures have left most of the state with extreme fire risk. Despite the snowfall last week, the fires continue to burn and new ones are being sparked. Each one of our employees loves this great state of Colorado and can't help but want to aid those in such tremendous need," says Richard Anderson, president of Heart Heating, Cooling, Plumbing & Electric. "Because of the pandemic, everyone is forced to stand by and watch rather than jump in with both feet to help. Raising these donations is the least we can do and still effectively provide aid."
Unlike with previous wildfire emergencies, community and group shelters are not an option due to COVID-19. Instead, the Red Cross reported paying for more than 27,000 hotel nights in Larimer County. Thankfully local hotels and KOA Campgrounds are providing drastically discounted housing for thousands of Cameron Peak and East Troublesome Fire evacuees. Despite the discounts, housing costs alone for evacuees are more than anticipated.
