Trending...
~ Colorado Springs, CO - The City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is excited to announce the grand re-opening of the renovated playground at Woodland Hills Park. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the project.

The renovation of the playground aims to provide a fresh and improved play experience for families in the neighborhood. It also focuses on enhancing long-term accessibility and safety throughout the park. Outdated equipment and sand surfacing were removed by crews, and in their place, modern play structures, new seating, and an engineered wood-fiber play surface with a ramp and accessible concrete walkways were installed.

According to Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Director Britt Haley, this renovated playground is a testament to their commitment to creating safe, inclusive, and high-quality spaces for all residents. He also mentioned that this year's funding allowed for not only the rehabilitation of Woodland Hills Park's playground but also Rampart Park's nearby playground.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will feature remarks from City Councilmember Dave Donelson and Parks Director Britt Haley. Local students from Academy District 20's Pioneer Elementary School are expected to attend as well, joining in on the celebration and testing out the new equipment.

Funding for this project was made possible through coordinated efforts from various sources such as the Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) sales tax program, Conservation Trust Fund, and the City's Office of Accessibility.
