On October 19, 2025, at 4:51 PM, the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call for service regarding a shooting in the 2000 block of Southgate Road. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased adult male on the scene. The CSPD Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.

On October 20, 2025, the El Paso County Coroner's Office conducted an autopsy on the deceased male and identified him as 19-year-old Devon Redden.  While the coroner's office will determine the cause and manner of death, this is being investigated as a homicide. A photo of Mr. Redden has been provided by his family.
