~ As the city of Colorado Springs continues to make improvements to its roadways, a section of South Nevada Avenue will be temporarily closed overnight for construction. According to a press release from the city, the closure will take place between Brookside Street and the Interstate 25 ramps starting at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17 and lasting until 5 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 18.
The closure is necessary for crews to shift barriers and remove pavement markings in order to facilitate the ongoing construction work in the area. The northbound lane of South Nevada Avenue will be closed first, followed by the southbound lane which will reopen before the northbound lane.

To accommodate for this closure, detours will be in place for travelers on Sunday night. Northbound traffic on South Nevada Avenue should take Brookside Street to South Tejon Street to I-25 South Connector Road to South Nevada Avenue, while southbound traffic should take the I-25 North Connector Road to South Tejon Street to Brookside Street to South Nevada Avenue.
Travelers are advised to plan for additional travel time and seek alternate routes during this closure. However, it is important to note that the schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions.
