Colorado Springs: Prospect Lake aeration installation to begin Oct. 29

Trending...
~ Colorado Springs, CO - The city's Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services (PRCS) department has announced the installation of a new aeration system in Prospect Lake at Memorial Park. The project, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), aims to combat blue-green algae and improve the overall health of the lake.

Starting today, Oct. 29, 2024, the aeration system will effectively turn over the lake's water every two days. This process will reduce excess nutrient content and increase oxygen levels in the lake, helping to prevent blue-green algae blooms and fish kills.
