Colorado Springs: North Chelton Road crosswalk and signal work means lane shifts

Trending...
~ The City of Colorado Springs has announced plans to improve safety measures on North Chelton Road, specifically in front of Twain Elementary School near the intersection with Marion Drive. According to a press release, the project is set to begin on Monday, July 28.

The main focus of the project is to reconfigure the crosswalk and rebuild the existing pedestrian signal. Additionally, bump outs will be installed to reduce the length of the pedestrian crossing. This will create a shorter and safer route for pedestrians, particularly for students walking to and from the school from nearby neighborhoods.

Fortunately, there will be no road closures during this project which is expected to be completed within two weeks before school starts. The construction will start on the west side of North Chelton Road in the first week before moving to the east side. However, travelers can expect lane shifts and some bike lane closures during this short-term project.
