Colorado Springs: Mayor Yemi to present 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award to David Lord Thursday

~ Colorado Springs - On Thursday, Sept. 25, Mayor Yemi will present the prestigious 2025 Spirit of Colorado Springs Lifetime Achievement Award to local philanthropist David Lord during the State of the City event at The Broadmoor.

At 80 years old, David Lord has made a significant impact on the Colorado Springs community through his professional experience in finance and education. His dedication to philanthropy and advocacy has earned him this esteemed recognition.

"David Lord's humble, compassionate and impactful leadership has made a lasting impression on our city," said Mayor Yemi. "It is an honor to present him with this Lifetime Achievement Award."

Lord's career began as a Business Manager at Rollins College in Florida before moving on to Colorado College. Throughout his professional life and into retirement, he has remained deeply involved with various community organizations focused on downtown development, affordable housing, and senior advocacy.

One of Lord's notable contributions is co-creating the Innovations in Aging Collaborative. He also serves as a board member and volunteer for Silver Key Senior Services, an organization that provides assistance to seniors in need.

Howard Black, a board member of Silver Key Senior Services, spoke highly of Lord's dedication to the community. "Every time I turn around, I'm hearing that he's involved in another initiative," said Black. "He loves this community and the mission of helping and assisting our seniors."

Lord also played a key role in founding the Pikes Peak Housing Network. Through his family foundation, he has generously donated both money and time to various causes related to housing, aging services, and education.

Currently, Lord serves in multiple volunteer roles including as Chair of the Downtown Review Board for the City of Colorado Springs.
