Lt. Governor Primavera Celebrates Taiwan’s 114th National Day and Colorado Partnership

DENVER ~ Yesterday, leaders from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Denver, along with elected officials and community members, gathered at the Denver Botanic Gardens to celebrate the 114th National Day of Taiwan. The event was joined by Lieutenant Governor Dianne Primavera, who expressed her honor in being a part of the celebration.

During the event, Taiwan's rich culture, dynamic democracy, and leadership in innovation were highlighted. This served as a reminder of the strong ties between Taiwan and the state of Colorado in terms of economics, education, and culture.

In her remarks, Lt. Governor Primavera emphasized the importance of Taiwan's resilience and leadership in various fields. She also expressed her excitement for further deepening the partnership between Colorado and Taiwan.

The event featured musical performances by the Denver Young Artists Orchestra and the Colorado Symphony Quartet. Additionally, Director General Debby Huang gave a speech and a Friendship Medal of Diplomacy was conferred during the ceremony.

The partnership between Colorado and Taiwan continues to flourish through trade, student exchange programs, research collaborations, and advancements in critical technologies. Last year, Lt. Governor Primavera led a business and trade mission to Taiwan where she experienced firsthand the warmth and innovation of Taiwanese people. This visit further solidified Colorado's commitment to strengthening their partnership for mutual prosperity.

According to economic data from 2024-2025, total trade volume between Colorado and Taiwan reached $864 million. This includes $300 million worth of exports from Colorado to Taiwan, with an increase of 11.8% from last year. The top exports include computer & electronic products ($160M), food products ($68M), and machinery ($23M). On the other hand, Colorado imported $564 million worth of goods from Taiwan with top imports being computer & electronic products ($381M), transportation equipment ($44M), and fabricated metals ($34M). It is worth noting that Taiwan is Colorado's 9th largest export partner and 8th largest import partner.

These numbers highlight the growing importance of Taiwan as a key partner for Colorado's economy in terms of trade, technology, and innovation. The event at the Denver Botanic Gardens served as a reminder of the strong bonds between the two regions and their commitment to continued collaboration for mutual success.
