~ On the evening of October 26, 2025, tragedy struck at the intersection of Dublin Boulevard and Cloud Dancer Drive in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) received a call for service regarding a traffic crash at approximately 8:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the driver of the first involved vehicle had tragically passed away.
The CSPD Major Crash Team was immediately called to the scene due to the severity of the crash and took over responsibility for the investigation. Through their initial investigation, it was determined that the first vehicle had lost control, veered off the roadway, and collided with a tree in the center median. Prior to this, it had also sideswiped a second vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from the single occupant of the second vehicle.

Two days later, on October 28, 2025, an autopsy was performed by the El Paso Coroner's Office on the deceased driver. He was identified as 21-year-old Richard Bayne Jr. This tragic incident marks as the 48th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. Comparatively, at this time last year there were 50 traffic fatalities and in total there have been 54 traffic fatalities within the past year.
The CSPD continues to investigate this incident and urges all drivers to exercise caution on the roads to prevent further tragedies like this one.
