~ On Tuesday evening, a major traffic shift will take place over the Fountain Creek bridge, according to a press release from the city. The eastbound frontage road from 8th Street to Highway 24 will be reopening at 7 p.m., allowing for smoother travel for motorists.
The main change that travelers can expect is a significant shift in traffic flow on northbound 8th Street as they cross over the Fountain Creek bridge. This is due to the closure of the center lanes of the bridge for ongoing rehabilitation work. As a result, northbound traffic will be limited to one open lane while southbound traffic will have two open lanes.
In addition to this, a new multi-use sidewalk on the east side of the bridge will also be opening as part of this traffic shift. This marks an important milestone in the construction project and is expected to last for approximately 2-3 weeks.

While these changes are taking place, crews will also be drilling to locate utilities under 8th Street just south of the bridge. As a result, drivers may experience occasional short-duration lane closures in both directions. Motorists are advised to exercise extra caution while traveling through this work zone.
Despite these changes, access to local businesses will remain open and clearly marked for drivers. However, it is important for drivers to stay alert for workers and equipment, especially on the Fountain Creek bridge where construction will be taking place between northbound and southbound lanes.
