AURORA ~ AURORA - Governor Jared Polis visited the Community College of Aurora today to tour the newly opened Center for Applied Science and Technology Building (CAST). The governor's visit highlighted Colorado's investments in higher education opportunities in STEM fields.
During his visit, Governor Polis expressed his excitement about the new building and its potential to help students gain hands-on experience and develop the necessary skills for good jobs in Colorado. He also emphasized the state's commitment to creating career pathways for Coloradans, promoting economic growth, and fostering innovation.
The CAST building first opened its doors in Fall 2025 and is a result of a partnership between Community College of Aurora and BuildStrong Academy of Colorado (BSA). This collaboration aims to connect hundreds of students across the state to life-changing career pathways.
JB Holston, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Higher Education, also spoke about the significance of this new facility. He stated that CAST is an innovative investment that will have a positive impact on both individuals and Colorado's workforce. The building offers cutting-edge, hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for high-demand STEM careers, which are crucial to driving the state's economy forward. Holston also praised the partnership between Community College of Aurora, BuildStrong Academy, and the state government for expanding opportunities and ensuring every learner has a pathway to a family-sustaining job.
