Date: Friday, September 13, 1 ~ The City of Colorado Springs, along with its partners, is hosting a free informational session on renter rights for residents. The event, titled "Renter Rights 101," will take place on Friday, September 13 from 1-3 p.m. at Silver Key Senior Services or virtually through an online platform.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about various topics related to renting, including lease basics, reasonable accommodations and modifications, deposits, repairs, eviction, and updates on recent Colorado legislation regarding housing matters. The session will be led by Colorado Legal Services attorney Clinton Albert.
In addition to the presentation by Albert, other community legal and housing resources will also be shared with attendees. However, it is important to note that presenters are not able to provide legal advice for individual situations.
Those interested in attending can join the session online through the provided link or by calling in using the phone number and conference ID provided in the press release. Optional event registration is available online at https://coloradosprings.gov/renters101 and allows participants to receive a copy of the slides and event recording. These materials will also be shared on the Housing and Community Vitality Department's website and newsletter.

This event is part of a larger workshop series called "Renter Rights 101" for 2024. It is a collaborative effort between Colorado Legal Services, Pikes Peak Library District, The Justice Center, Colorado Housing Connects, The Independence Center, Silver Key Senior Services, Community Economic Defense Project and the City of Colorado Springs Housing and Community Vitality Department.
In accordance with ADA and Title VI regulations, individuals requiring accommodations or language services to participate in this program should make their request as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
