~ Residents of Colorado Springs and El Paso County are being invited to participate in a series of community open house events this July, as part of a regional Housing Needs Assessment. These events will provide an opportunity for community members to gain a better understanding of the housing needs in the region and to share their own experiences, perspectives, and concerns.
Led by the City of Colorado Springs, the Housing Needs Assessment is a collaborative effort aimed at providing a comprehensive analysis of the housing supply, challenges, and needs across El Paso County. This assessment will assist in developing tailored housing and community development strategies for the region. In particular, it will result in specific geographic recommendations for the City of Colorado Springs, including information on housing needs, funding opportunities, potential partnerships, and a housing dashboard.
Aimee Cox, Chief Housing and Homelessness Officer for the City of Colorado Springs, emphasized the importance of these open houses in gaining insight from community members. "These open houses are a chance for residents to learn more about the housing landscape in our region and to share what they're experiencing in their own neighborhoods," she stated. "Hearing directly from community members helps us build a more complete understanding of the housing needs across our region and city."
