Colorado Springs: Ramona Avenue at South Nevada Avenue to close on Monday

Trending...
~ Colorado Springs - Starting on Monday, July 14 at 7 a.m., Ramona Avenue will be closed at the intersection with South Nevada Avenue for the City of Colorado Springs' South Nevada Avenue Traffic Signal Improvements Project. The closure is expected to last through mid-August.

According to city officials, the closure is necessary for crews to begin safety and mobility upgrades, including new traffic signals, ADA-compliant curb ramps, and streetscape improvements. This project is a joint effort between the City of Colorado Springs and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

While Ramona Avenue is closed, drivers are advised to take alternate routes. Westbound traffic on Ramona Avenue should detour south on South Nevada Avenue, west on St. Elmo Avenue, north on Tejon Street, and return to Ramona from the west. Eastbound traffic should detour south on Tejon Street, east on St. Elmo Avenue, north on South Nevada Avenue, and return to Ramona from the east.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the closure with clearly marked detours. However, some sidewalk segments near the work zone will be temporarily closed with "Cross Here" signage in place.

On-street parking within the work zone will also be restricted. Customers visiting nearby businesses are encouraged to use the strip mall parking lot located just north of Ramona Avenue.

The South Nevada Avenue Traffic Signal Improvements Project aims to replace aging traffic signal infrastructure and provide critical safety upgrades for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers. It also aligns with the South Nevada Urban Renewal Plan which focuses on revitalizing this key corridor.
