DENVER ~ Denver, CO - Governor Jared Polis had a busy day today as he attended a series of events focused on finding solutions to help people save money on healthcare, highlighting Colorado's leadership in tech policy, and discussing the state's efforts to strengthen the economy.
The day began with Governor Polis providing opening remarks at the Progressive Policy Institute's Tech Innovation Panel. The panel brought together bipartisan leaders to discuss the economic forces that shape tech policy and the work being done at the state level to create comprehensive and responsible policies. Governor Polis emphasized Colorado's position as a national hub for the tech industry, with a 28% increase in new businesses and a 116% growth in likely employer business applications since 2019.
"Colorado is the best place to start and grow a business," said Governor Polis. "Our robust tech industry is made up of both homegrown companies and those that are drawn here by our low taxes, business-friendly environment, quality of life, and strong workforce. We will continue to welcome new businesses to our great state."

Next, Governor Polis turned his attention to healthcare at the State of Reform Health Policy Conference. He discussed ways in which Colorado has made significant progress in reducing patient costs, including implementing price transparency measures through the Hospital Price Transparency tool, lowering prescription drug prices, and making health insurance more affordable through Colorado Option plans and Reinsurance. He also highlighted Colorado's status as the first state to cap insulin costs at $100 per month, down from previous prices of up to $5,000 per month.
"In Colorado, we are committed to cutting costs and supporting quality healthcare that is accessible for all Coloradans," said Governor Polis. "We know that when we come together and innovate, we can tackle even the most complex challenges. I am excited to continue our work today towards saving people more money on healthcare and helping Colorado thrive."

Later in the day, Governor Polis participated in CO Impact Days, an event focused on promoting sustainable development practices and increasing impact investing in Colorado. The event brings together community foundations, family offices, investors, philanthropists, and community leaders to facilitate private investment capital ranging from $10 million to $1 billion for local communities.
"Investing in our schools, communities, and local infrastructure is a top priority in Colorado," said Governor Polis. "We are making bold progress towards delivering on the promise of more housing by cutting red tape and breaking down barriers that prevent or delay construction. We are also fully funding education and providing robust support for meaningful out-of-school time opportunities for students. All of this work would not be possible without key investments and a deep love for Colorado. I am excited to continue growing Colorado's capacity and building a state that works for all."
