DENVER ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Polis has appointed Adam D. Kendall to the 1st Judicial District Court. This appointment comes as a result of the retirement of the Honorable Philip J. McNulty and will officially take effect on August 1, 2026.
Kendall brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as a Magistrate Judge in the 1st Judicial District since 2024. He also holds positions as Faculty and Program Director at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, which he has held since 2014 and 2026 respectively. His primary focus in his current position is handling civil matters.
Prior to his current roles, Kendall served as Chief Trial Deputy District Attorney in the 20th Judicial District Attorney's Office from 2018 to 2024. He also worked as Special Counsel at Jones & Keller, PC from 2017 to 2018 and as Deputy District Attorney in the 1st Judicial District Attorney's Office from 2013 to 2016 and again from 2007 to 2011.

Kendall's legal career also includes positions as Adjunct Faculty at Red Rocks Community College from 2013 to 2016 and again from 2010 to 2011, as well as an Associate Attorney at Long + Page, LLP from 2011 to 2013.
He received his B.A. from Claremont McKenna College in 2000 and his J.D. from the University of Colorado Law School in 2007.
With his extensive background and qualifications, Kendall is well-equipped to serve on the bench of the prestigious First Judicial District Court. His appointment is sure to bring valuable insight and expertise to this important role within Colorado's judicial system.
