DENVER ~ In a recent partnership with DonorsChoose, Governor Jared Polis of Colorado has announced a significant funding of $2.7 million to support educators in purchasing necessary resources for their classrooms. This initiative aims to provide students in Colorado with the tools they need to succeed.
After the initial announcement earlier this week, the Governor and DonorsChoose have now revealed that the submission window for projects has closed. In just 24 hours, over 9,000 projects were submitted by teachers across the state. It is estimated that more than 5,000 projects will be immediately funded, with the remaining projects expected to receive support from individual donors and corporate partners through DonorsChoose's national network.
Governor Polis expressed his excitement about this opportunity and praised the dedication of Colorado educators in going above and beyond for their students. He stated, "Our educators go above and beyond for Colorado students and I'm so excited we are helping ensure that teachers have the learning supplies they need in classrooms across the state. I'm excited about the success of this opportunity and can't wait to see these classroom materials being used."

Under this funding, teachers will receive up to $600 per classroom for various resources such as classroom supplies, technology learning tools, instructional materials, and social or mental health resources for students. This funding builds upon last year's successful initiative which supported projects on topics ranging from literacy and language to STEM and life skills for over 7,000 teachers and 1,300 schools.
Governor Polis has also taken on a new role as chair of the National Governors Association and launched the Let's Get Ready: Preparing All Americans For Success initiative. This initiative focuses on providing individuals of all ages with the necessary tools to succeed and drive economic competitiveness.
The support for teachers does not end here as Coloradans can continue to contribute through DonorsChoose while teachers can still submit their projects for funding. Interested Colorado teachers can visit the DonorsChoose website to learn more about this opportunity. With this funding, Governor Polis and DonorsChoose are working towards creating a better learning environment for students in Colorado and ensuring their success.
