The report, titled "Top 10 States," ranks Colorado at ninth place for its efforts in promoting greener and cost-saving building practices.
Under the leadership of Governor Polis, this marks the sixth consecutive year that Colorado has made it to the top ten list. The state has been consistently prioritizing smart construction strategies to reduce costs and promote sustainability for both individuals and businesses.
Governor Polis expressed his pride in Colorado's achievement, stating that the state continues to lead the nation in constructing energy-efficient buildings that not only save money on energy bills but also protect the environment for future generations.

In 2024, a total of 64 LEED projects were certified in Colorado, covering an impressive 13,884,040 square feet of space. These buildings not only support Colorado's clean energy goals but also enhance safety, durability, sustainability, comfort, and affordability for households and businesses.
Will Toor, CEO Executive Director of the U.S. Green Building Council, highlighted the importance of lowering building emissions in achieving climate goals. He also emphasized how energy-efficient buildings not only lower utility costs but also reduce harmful air pollution that contributes to climate change and impacts public health. Toor added that these buildings are also quieter and provide a better living or working environment for tenants.
Colorado's consistent efforts towards promoting sustainable building practices have earned them a well-deserved spot among the top ten states in this year's report. With continued dedication towards greener initiatives, it is expected that Colorado will maintain its position as a national leader in this area.
