Colorado Springs: Motorcyclist Identified from Fatal Crash at North Union Boulevard and Garmish Road on August 9th, 2025

~ On the evening of August 9, 2025, tragedy struck at the intersection of Garmish Road and North Union Boulevard in Colorado Springs. The Colorado Springs Police Department received a call at approximately 6:06 PM regarding a traffic crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers were informed that the rider of the motorcycle had collided with the SUV and was unresponsive. Medical personnel were immediately dispatched to the location, but unfortunately, the rider was pronounced dead.

The CSPD Major Crash Team took over the investigation and initial findings suggest that speed may have played a role in the crash. Two days later, on August 11, 2025, an autopsy was conducted by the El Paso County Coroner's Office on the deceased rider. He was identified as 20-year-old Spencer Lehmkuhl.

This tragic incident marks the 35th traffic fatality in Colorado Springs this year. However, it is worth noting that at this time last year, there were already 37 traffic fatalities recorded. In total, there have been 47 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs within the past year. The investigation into this particular crash is ongoing as authorities work to determine all contributing factors.
