Founder Jason Van Peeren introduces a way for firms to "own your intelligence," pairing affordable open-weight AI with the data control regulated firms require.
BOULDER, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Gravitas, a Boulder-area AI and digital experience agency, today announced the launch of SUDO, an AI platform built for regulated small and midsize firms that need real leverage from AI without sending client data to public models. Created by Gravitas founder Jason Van Peeren, SUDO runs on a stable of open-weight models at a fraction of the cost of flagship AI services, and is designed so a firm's confidential information stays protected and under its own control.
SUDO launches with two initial verticals, law firms and certified public accounting practices, both of which face strict rules on how client information can be stored and used. The platform is offered as a hybrid: SUDO Cloud, a protected, account-isolated service available now at app.sudo.digital, and SUDO Box, a private on-premises appliance for firms that want their data to never leave their own walls. Both run the same SUDO model lineup, including general, coding, translation, reasoning, and vision models, with an "Auto" mode that routes each request to the right model automatically.

A defining feature is what happens to sensitive data before it ever reaches a model. SUDO tokenizes personal and client information in real time, so names, account numbers, and other identifiers are masked in transit and restored only for the firm's own users. As Van Peeren puts it, SUDO runs through a firm's documents, not on them.
"Most small firms know they need AI, but they are right to worry about where their data goes," said Jason Van Peeren, founder of Gravitas. "SUDO is our answer. A law firm or an accounting practice can get real leverage from AI while keeping client information private and under their own control, at a fraction of what the big AI subscriptions cost. With SUDO, a firm finally owns its own intelligence."
SUDO Cloud is available now with usage-based plans, including a free tier, that let a firm start small and scale as adoption grows. SUDO Box and guided onboarding engagements are quoted by scope for firms that want a tailored, fully private deployment.
As part of the launch, Gravitas is opening a limited early reference customer program, with a small number of slots reserved for law firms and accounting practices that want to shape the product and serve as launch partners.
