LONGMONT, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Twin Peaks Classical Academy changed its name from Twin Peaks Charter Academy to fit its vision of a classical education of grammar, logic, and rhetoric.
Classical Education at TPCA
"The concept of the trivium, or the three ways describes the natural learning stages of children as they mature. The end goal is to develop a knowledgeable, thinking and articulate student with a well formed mind. The three stages of the trivium are grammar, logic and rhetoric."
Our elementary students start at the foundation, where they acquire facts and knowledge in the grammar stage. We use phonics, cursive, and algorithmic-based math just as students taught for centuries past.
Middle school students dive into the logic stage, where they learn to organize facts into statements and arguments. We strive to teach our students how to think abstractly and argue well. The core subjects teach students to test hypotheses, write thesis statements, algebra, and geometry.

High school students are taught the art of rhetoric by using facts and logic to communicate their ideas. They will learn to both communicate well and persuade.
"[Our] classical education is based on the timeless value of creating critical thinkers who seek truth, beauty and goodness, while acquiring foundational skills and knowledge, in a teacher-led classroom that lays the foundation for advanced study."
