~ As the April 1st General Municipal Election approaches, residents of Colorado Springs are reminded that the deadline to file paperwork for City Council positions is quickly approaching. According to City Clerk Sarah Johnson, interested candidates must submit their paperwork by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21 in order to be considered for one of the six district positions.
To obtain a candidate filing packet, individuals can visit the City Clerk's Office located at 30 South Nevada Avenue, Suite 101. It is crucial that potential candidates meet this deadline as failure to do so will result in their name not being included on the ballot.

In preparation for the election, a training session was held on Jan. 2 by the City Clerk's Office for interested candidates. A recording of this session is available at ColoradoSprings.gov/CandidateInformation. For further information regarding important candidate and election details, individuals can visit ColoradoSprings.gov/Election or contact the City Clerk's Office at 719-385-5901 (Option 4).
Residents can also visit ColoradoSprings.gov/CityCouncilDistricts to find out which council district their residential address falls under and who currently holds that position. With only a few days left until the filing deadline, those interested in running for City Council are urged to act quickly and ensure their paperwork is submitted on time.
