Nonprofit provides supportive housing programs to 36-unit community
DURANGO, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- Rainbow Housing Assistance Corporation (Rainbow), a nonprofit organization that provides service-enriched housing programs for residents of rental housing communities throughout the country, has been selected by MGL Partners as the service provider for Lumien II Apartments. The 36-unit apartment complex located at 3190 E Animas Village Dr. in Colorado, has set-aside nine units to house homeless or disabled persons. Rainbow's resident services are uplifting the lives of tenants so they are empowered and become independent.
"Rainbow is actively working with MGL Partners to help residents become self-sufficient," said Flynann Janisse, Executive Director of Rainbow. "We selected programs and services which met the needs of the community with the opportunity to expand and enhance as we learn more about each resident. Additionally, we secured an employee with proven ability and a background to support those needs and expand our capacity to start implementing the programs and services this year."

Rainbow's part-time Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) facilitates in-person workshops and all participants wear masks, undergo temperature checks, and social distance during each session. With Web-Based Resident Applied Programming (WRAP), tenants can interact with the RSC over live webinars. The app also holds the online calendar of workshops and class schedules. The programs cover a range of topics such as home buying, obtaining a GED and learning English as a second language.
Residents looking for additional assistance can leverage Rainbow's LINK platform backed by the national call center. LINK connects residents to timely community-specific information.
"We see Rainbow's high-quality programs as an opportunity to give back to our community and uplift the well-being of our residents," said Mike Gerber, co-founder and principal of MGL Partners.
Rainbow has seen resident services improve occupancy, reduce turnover costs and lower concessions for partnering developers. Owners who partner with Rainbow qualify for Fannie Mae Healthy Housing Rewards because Rainbow is the first third-party service provider to be a Certified Organization for Resident Engagement & Services (https://coresonline.org/certification#benefits) (CORES). Developed by Stewards of Affordable Housing for the Future, the certification identities quality resident services coordination in affordable rental housing.
