WASHINGTON, Oct. 10, 2024 ~ Janet Estrada, principal at Ashley Elementary School in the Denver Public Schools, has been named the recipient of the 2024-2025 ALAS Scholarship sponsored by Curriculum Associates. The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) selected Estrada for her dedication to serving Latinx students and her commitment to educational innovation and improvement.
Estrada will receive $10,000 towards her doctoral degree at Loyola University Chicago's Administration and Supervision Superintendent Endorsement Ed.D. program. As a first-generation Mexican-American leader, she sees this scholarship as a pivotal opportunity to further her education and fulfill her goal of becoming a superintendent.
"I am grateful for this scholarship as it will not only allow me to continue my education but also serve as a role model for my sons and other Latinx youth," said Estrada. "I am determined to use this opportunity to make a broader impact in education and champion equitable outcomes for all students."
