~ The Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) has announced the launch of its first ever public-facing data dashboard, providing residents with a transparent and interactive view of emergency response activity throughout the city. This new tool, introduced by Fire Chief Randy Royal, aims to promote transparency and accountability within the department.

Chief Royal expressed his excitement about the dashboard, stating that it will give residents an inside look at how their fire department serves the community on a daily basis. The dashboard will display various data points such as call volumes, call types, and other important information. According to Chief Royal, this data is crucial in driving decisions and response strategies.

The dashboard consists of two interactive pages that showcase calls for service handled by CSFD. The first page offers a 12-month snapshot of emergency incidents, including a breakdown of the most common call types and the top 10 sub-categories within each type. It also features a monthly trend chart showing call volume over the past year.

On the second page, residents can select their neighborhood fire station to view specific information such as call distribution by time of day and call volume over the past three months. Additionally, a citywide map displays call density by location. Both pages are fully interactive, allowing users to explore data by month, category, and location.

This new dashboard reflects CSFD's commitment to transparency and community engagement. It aims to help residents better understand the department's role in public safety. The dashboard can be accessed at ColoradoSprings.gov/csfd-data-dashboard.
