DENVER ~ In a joint announcement today, Governor Jared Polis and DonorsChoose revealed that an additional $1.2 million in Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) funding will be allocated to support project submissions from 2,348 educators across Colorado. These educators had previously not received funding in August.

Governor Polis expressed his enthusiasm for this investment in education, stating that it will provide much-needed assistance for teachers to help their students succeed both in the classroom and beyond. The funds will be used for a variety of resources, including art supplies, educational materials, and technology.

This latest round of funding adds to the $2.7 million that was announced earlier this year for Colorado educators. That initial investment supported over 5,000 projects and has now been supplemented by the additional $1.2 million.

Last year's GEER funding also made a significant impact on education in Colorado, supporting projects ranging from literacy and language to STEM and life skills for 7,368 teachers and 1,385 schools.

DonorsChoose continues to be a valuable platform for supporting teachers and their projects. Educators can still submit their project proposals for potential funding through this program. For more information on this opportunity, Colorado teachers can visit the DonorsChoose website.
