Snowdown Balloon Rally, Romance on the Rails, and Winter Photo Weekend Highlight 139-Year-Old Railroad's February Special Event Schedule
DURANGO, Colo. - ColoradoDesk -- The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad (D&SNGRR)™, which offers distinctive year-round rail experiences and special events to passengers of all ages in the scenic wilderness and high-mountain landscape of Colorado's San Juan National Forest, today announced it is kicking off 2020 with a series of February special events which cater to railfans, couples, and photographers.
The D&SNGRR's February excursions include the Snowdown Balloon Rally Train on Sat., Feb. 1; its always-popular Romance on the Rails event for couples, in celebration of Valentine's Day, on Fri., Feb. 14; and its annual winter photography weekend, Feb. 15-16.
"After a successful 2019 in which the D&SNGRR saw phenomenal overall ridership volume and event attendance, we wanted to start the new year on the right note with a fantastic series of unique events that are some of our most popular and distinctive of the year," said Allen C. Harper, head of the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and chairman and chief executive officer of American Heritage Railways.

Full of Hot Air: Snowdown Balloon Rally Train Takes Flight Sat., Feb. 1
For the 19th consecutive year, the D&SNGRR is hosting the Snowdown Balloon Rally Train, a special excursion during which the train stops in the middle of the Animas Valley for guests to view the mass ascension of dozens of colorful, eye-popping hot-air balloons participating in the rally.
Snowdown Balloon Rally Train standard-class tickets are $69.00 per person for adults and $42.00 per person for children. First-class tickets aboard the Knight Sky and Alamosa railcars are $119.00 per person for adults and $79.00 per person for children.
