~ Colorado Springs - Marksheffel Road will experience closures and detours this weekend as crews work to improve the roadway. According to a press release from the city, the road will be closed to all traffic from south of Dublin Boulevard to north of Tarren Heights overnight on Thursday, April 24 from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and for the entire weekend starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 25 until 5:30 a.m. on Monday, April 28.
The closure is necessary for crews to trench across Marksheffel Road in order to place a utility duct bank and drainage pipes below ground. This work is weather-dependent and may be subject to change.

A detour will be in place during the closure, allowing local access only to Reach Church and the Mountain Valley Preserve neighborhood (Tarren Heights) from the south at the Stetson Hills Boulevard/Marksheffel Road intersection. The signed detour route directs Marksheffel Road travelers to use Peterson Road between Dublin Boulevard and Stetson Hills Boulevard.
Once the work is completed, travel lanes will be restriped for a new traffic pattern when the road reopens on Monday morning. Community members are advised to stay updated on any changes by texting IMPROVE to 866-762-3640 for text alerts or by checking message boards along the corridor and calling the project hotline at 719-645-4055.
