Colorado Springs: Downtown road closures planned for Halfway to St. Patty’s Day 5k

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Halfway to St. Patty's Day 5k will take place downtown on Saturday, Sept. 26. The 5k, which is normally held in March as part of several festivities to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, was postponed due to COVID-19 and will instead be celebrated as the halfway mark to the 2021 holiday. Due to the race, the following road closures are planned for Saturday morning:

6-10 a.m.
  • Glen Avenue, from Uintah Street to Mesa Road
  • Mesa Road, from Glen Avenue to Cascade Avenue
  • Cache La Poudre Street, from Mesa Road to Cascade Avenue

6-10:30 a.m.
  • Cascade Avenue, from Kiowa Street to Vermijo Street
  • Tejon Street, from Kiowa Street to Vermijo Street
  • Sierra Madre Street, from Bijou Street to Cucharras Street
  • Colorado Avenue, from Nevada Avenue to Antlers Place and Sahwatch Street
  • Antlers Place, from Colorado Avenue to Sierra Madre Street
  • Pikes Peak Avenue, from Nevada Avenue to Cascade Avenue

Race organizers have made recommended public health modifications to help ensure the safety and health of all involved parties.
  • Masks will be required in the check-in area, starting areas, and the finish area
  • Symptom surveys and temperature checks will be completed for all runners, volunteers, and race organizers
  • Ample space for social distancing will be provided in all areas and groups are not to exceed more than 10 people
  • Pre- and post-race activities have been eliminated to discourage crowd gathering
  • Increased sanitation and hygiene protocols will be in place
