~ The City of Colorado Springs is calling on its residents to participate in the development of the 2026 Park System Master Plan. The city has announced that an online survey will be available from Friday, June 13 until Sunday, August 3 for citizens to share their ideas and help shape the future of parks, recreation amenities, trails, and open spaces.
In addition to the online survey, the city is also hosting a series of public meetings to gather valuable input from community members. These meetings will provide an opportunity for citizens to express their thoughts and opinions on the park system. The first three public meetings have been scheduled and will feature interactive activities to engage participants in sharing their ideas and feedback.
The first in-person public session will take place on Tuesday, June 24 at the Briargate YMCA. The second session will be held on Wednesday, June 25 at the Southeast Armed Services YMCA. Both sessions will run from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM and will cover the same content. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual public session has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 9 at 6:00 PM. Advanced registration is required for this session and can be done through a provided registration link.

The purpose of the 2026 Park System Master Plan is to guide the development and sustainability of PRCS assets including City parks, trail systems, open space and natural areas, community centers, recreation and cultural services programming, as well as City enterprises such as the Pikes Peak Highway, Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, golf courses, and cemeteries. Through data collection and community input on recreation trends and user engagement as well as an operational assessment, this updated master plan aims to provide a framework for taking care of the park system while addressing the diverse desires of the Colorado Springs community for the next 10-15 years.
Residents are encouraged to learn more about the Park System Master Plan and stay updated on future public meeting dates by visiting ColoradoSprings.gov/ParkSystemMasterPlan. The city values the input of its citizens and hopes to create a plan that reflects the needs and desires of the community for years to come.
