~ The 20th annual Bighorn Sheep Day is set to take place at the Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center on Saturday, Feb. 15. The event, which is free and open to the public, will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and promises a day filled with family-friendly activities.
According to Bret Tennis, park administrator at Garden of the Gods Park, this year's Bighorn Sheep Day is not one to be missed. "We are excited to host the 20th Annual Bighorn Sheep Day, a great family event that offers fun for all ages," said Tennis. "This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the majestic Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep and their vital role in our ecosystem."
The event will feature wildlife viewing stations, live animals, nature walks, education booths, youth crafts, giveaways and more. It has become a popular event over the years, drawing in between 2,500 to 4,000 people annually.

Organizing partners for this year's Bighorn Sheep Day include Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services, Bear Creek Nature Center, Colorado Parks & Wildlife, Friends of Garden of the Gods (FOGG), Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center, the U.S. Forest Service, Nature's Educators, Pikes Peak - America's Mountain, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep Society and Visit Colorado Springs.
However, visitors are advised that certain trails and roads may be affected due to the ongoing Garden of the Gods waterline project. They are urged to use caution and follow all on-site detour signs for their safety. For updated information on the project, they can visit ColoradoSprings.gov/GOGWaterlineProject.
So mark your calendars for Feb. 15 and head over to Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center for a day filled with fun activities and a chance to deepen your appreciation for the Rocky Mountain bighorn sheep and their habitat.
