~ The City of Colorado Springs has recently been recognized for its commitment to supporting military personnel and their families. The city has earned a Bronze Military Friendly® Employer designation for 2025, solidifying its reputation as a military-friendly employer.
This prestigious designation was awarded after the city underwent a thorough evaluation process, which included analyzing public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,200 companies participated in the Military Friendly® survey, making it a highly competitive process.
One of the key factors that contributed to the city's success was its high percentage of veteran employees. Nearly 20% of City of Colorado Springs employees are veterans, showcasing the city's dedication to hiring and supporting those who have served in the military.
The City is also part of the Employer Roundtable, which includes other prominent employers such as Colorado Springs Utilities, Deloitte, USAA, and UCHealth. This coalition works together to develop best practices for hiring and supporting military personnel. They also collaborate closely with local military installations such as Peterson and Schriever Space Force Stations, Fort Carson Army Post, Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, and the U.S. Air Force Academy to address issues related to military spouse employment.

Through this partnership, the City has been able to make significant strides in assisting military spouses with finding employment opportunities and connecting them with valuable resources. This includes efforts such as legislative initiatives, data collection, job fairs, and employment opportunities.
In addition to these efforts, the City also participates in programs like Hiring our Heroes (HOH) and Veteran's Local Government Management Fellowship (VLGMF). These programs aim to support transitioning military personnel and their spouses by providing them with job opportunities and fellowships.
Sallie Clark, the City's Senior Advisor for Government & Military Engagement in the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs expressed her pride in earning this designation once again. She stated that they are continuously working towards making the entire region a military-friendly employer, not just the City of Colorado Springs.
