SipSource expands presence at WSWA's Access LIVE 2025, giving attendees unprecedented levels of access to the industry's most transformative data set.
DENVER, Feb. 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, SipSource analysts and industry veterans Danny Brager and Dale Stratton presented new, year-ending data at WSWA's Access LIVE 2025 in Denver. In a return of the most requested session at WSWA's Access LIVE, Brager and Stratton took to the Main Stage Monday night to delve into what the industry can expect in 2025 and how SipSource data can help power smarter business decisions and help chase what can seem like elusive growth after a year of turmoil.
December Data Shows Improvement, OND Stabilization
As expected, total wine and spirits ended the year with slight improvements over November-ending data with declines of -5.5% by volume and -5.0% by revenue compared to -5.6% and -5.1%, respectively. An extra shipping day in December accounts for the improvement, according to analysts.
Pre-Mixed Cocktails Continue to Drive De- Premiumization Trend
While traditional core spirits continue to have a slight trend towards Premiumization at a category level, pre-mixed cocktails continue to drive spirits de-premiumization across on- and off-premise channels. The latest December-ending data places Cocktails Tier 1 (<$5.00) increasing +31.8% by revenue, holding a 13.2% of total market share.
Analysts Expect Q1 Stabilization
Despite market challenges including changing consumer preferences, potential tariffs on imported single-origin products, and supply chain disruptions, analysts expect favorable comps to produce slow but marked improvements in Q1 of 2025.
"Recovery will be slow, but Q1 comps are strong. Spirits in Q1 2024 were down -4.8% in volume and -5.7% in revenue while wine saw decreases of -9.5% in volume and -7.6% in revenue," said Stratton. "In 2025, we should expect to see less impact from inventory management at the retail level -what destocking can happen already has. Retailers can only destock so far before failing to meet their consumers' needs."
