Union Demands Best ~ The United Airlines Teamsters National Negotiating Committee has officially begun collective bargaining with the airline for a new contract that will cover 10,000 aviation maintenance and related Teamsters across the nation. This announcement was made by Teamsters General President Sean M. O'Brien, who emphasized the importance of recognizing and rewarding their members with improved wages, benefits, and protections.
According to O'Brien, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and their national negotiating committee are well-equipped to secure an industry-leading contract for their members. He also mentioned that this year's bargaining committee includes more rank-and-file members than ever before and has received input from thousands of members on what they want to see in the new agreement.
Chris Griswold, Teamsters Airline Division Director and International Vice President At-Large, echoed O'Brien's sentiments and stated that they are more prepared than ever to secure the best contract in aviation maintenance. He also made it clear that they will not back down in holding United Airlines accountable for meeting their demands.

The demands put forth by the United Airlines Teamsters include industry-leading wages, a faster timeline for reaching top pay rates, improved healthcare benefits, and higher safety standards. The union has taken a proactive approach by opening negotiations four months before the current contract becomes amendable.
Joe Prisco, a technician from Teamsters Local 856 and member of the bargaining committee, expressed their determination to fight for what they have earned. He stated that United Airlines needs to come prepared with a substantial offer as they are mobilizing and unifying like never before.
Negotiations between the Teamsters and United Airlines began today and will continue tomorrow. They are set to meet again on August 20-22 in Denver. The International Brotherhood of Teamsters was founded in 1903 and currently represents 1.3 million hardworking individuals in the U.S., Canada, and Puerto Rico.
