Public invited to comment on 5-year plan for federal grants for Colorado Springs

Trending...
~ As the City of Colorado Springs prepares for the next five years, they are seeking input from the public on how to allocate grant funds from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These grants will be used to support various initiatives such as affordable housing, homelessness prevention, nonprofit assistance, and neighborhood infrastructure improvements for low- and moderate-income residents within the community.

The draft plan, which covers strategies, projects, and activities from 2025 to 2029, utilizes federal Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME), and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG). The city is encouraging residents to review the plan and provide feedback during the comment period, which will be open until January 27th.

To further engage with the community, a public hearing will be held on Thursday, January 7th from 1 to 2 p.m. at the City Administration Building in Room 102. For those unable to attend in person, a virtual option is available through the project website.

In addition, a Spanish language public hearing will take place on January 16th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Silver Key. This provides an opportunity for Spanish-speaking residents to voice their opinions and concerns.

The draft plan, along with a survey for feedback and more information on the public hearings can be found at ColoradoSprings.gov/2025AnnualActionPlan. The city encourages all residents to participate in this important process as they work towards creating a better community for all.
