AURORA ~ In recognition of Digital Inclusion Week, Lt. Governor Primavera recently spoke at the Aurora Public Library about the Colorado Digital Navigators Pilot Program. The program, managed by Serve Colorado within the Office of the Lt. Governor, aims to bridge the digital divide and promote digital equity solutions.
Digital Inclusion Week is an annual event organized by the National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA) and its 1,800+ affiliates nationwide. It serves as a platform to raise awareness and celebrate efforts towards digital inclusion. This year, Colorado joins states and communities across the country in highlighting their initiatives both online and in-person.
During her speech, Lt. Governor Primavera emphasized the importance of creating a culture of accessibility and inclusion for all Coloradans, especially in digital spaces which have historically been overlooked. She commended the Digital Navigators for their dedication to serving communities in need and empowering individuals with essential digital skills.

The Digital Navigators AmeriCorps program was launched in March 2023 through a collaboration between Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), Serve Colorado, Comcast, The Learning Source, and Loveland Public Library. Its main focus is to address digital inclusion as a critical social determinant of economic stability, healthcare, education, and community well-being.
The first cohort of 22 AmeriCorps members began their service in October 2023 in nine counties including Arapahoe, Douglas, Denver, Boulder, Weld, Larimer, Pueblo Jefferson, and Pitkin counties. As of September 2024, the program has expanded to 74 locations in 13 counties including areas with slow or unreliable internet connectivity such as Costilla, Saguache, and Rio Grande counties. Over half of the Digital Navigators are bilingual or multilingual to better serve diverse communities.
These AmeriCorps members work closely with community members on an individual basis either in person, over the phone, or online to improve home connectivity, device access, and digital skills. The program has been successful in its inaugural year and is actively recruiting for the next program year.
