DENVER, June 17, 2024 ~ Gates Industrial Corporation plc (NYSE: GTES) has announced the appointment of John Patouhas as their new Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. Effective today, Monday, June 17, 2024, John will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction of Gates' accounting function.
In his new role, John will be in charge of financial reporting, risk management, controls, and compliance in accordance with applicable standards, laws, and regulations. This appointment comes as Gates continues to expand its business globally and looks to strengthen its accounting and controls function.
According to EVP/CFO Brooks Mallard, "John brings significant manufacturing finance leadership experience to Gates and we look forward to the benefit of his background and expertise in ensuring a robust accounting and controls function as we continue to grow our business globally." Mallard also expressed delight in John's decision to join Gates.

John joins Gates from automotive components manufacturer Tenneco where he served as Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer. He has also held positions at companies such as Federal Mogul, Altair Engineering, TRW, Hayes Lemmerz, and Collins & Aikman. In these roles, John provided leadership in establishing strong reporting and controls frameworks to manage risk and ensure compliant finance and accounting processes.
John's career began in public accounting as an auditor with Deloitte where he worked with clients such as General Motors and Detroit Diesel. After receiving his MBA from Wayne State University with a concentration in Finance, John worked in the energy industry before transitioning into manufacturing.
With his dual graduate degrees from Wayne State University - an MBA with a Finance concentration and a BBA in Accounting - John brings a robust understanding of financial systems, processes, and programs necessary for optimizing the accounting function in a global manufacturing environment. He also possesses strong organizational competencies that will support above-market growth and drive superior financial performance at Gates.
