~ On November 5, the citizens of Colorado Springs will have the opportunity to vote on three City-related ballot measures. These measures include Ballot Issue 2C, Ballot Question 2D, and Ballot Question 300.
Ballot Issue 2C aims to renew the 2C Road Improvement program for another 10 years at the current voter-approved sales tax rate of 0.57 percent. This amounts to 5.7 pennies on a $10 purchase. The sales tax was first approved by Colorado Springs voters in 2015 and renewed in 2019. Since its implementation in 2016, the program has made significant improvements to the city's roads, with nearly double the number of roads now in "good" condition. Additionally, citizen complaints about potholes have decreased by more than half. To learn more about Ballot Issue 2C, interested individuals can visit ColoradoSprings.gov/2c.
Ballot Question 2D proposes an amendment to the Charter of the City of Colorado Springs that would prohibit retail marijuana establishments within city limits.

Meanwhile, Ballot Question 300 seeks to amend a city ordinance that would allow existing medical marijuana licensees to apply for licenses as retail/recreational marijuana businesses. However, these retailers would still be subject to all applicable taxes, including the existing 5% sales tax on retail/recreational marijuana. The ballot question also includes several violations and penalties such as prohibiting any retail/recreational marijuana business from operating within a distance of 1,000 feet from public or private daycares, preschools or K-12 schools. It also prohibits the sale or transfer of retail/recreational marijuana to anyone under the age of 21.
