~ On the morning of September 14, 2024, a robbery at a Walgreens in Fountain, Colorado turned into an officer-involved shooting. According to a press release from the Fountain Police Department (FPD), officers were dispatched to the store located at 7910 Fountain Mesa Road after receiving reports of a robbery in progress.
The suspect, who had threatened employees with a gun and bomb, fled on foot towards the nearby Lowe's shopping center after taking items from the store. FPD officers located the suspect in the parking lot of a business in the 7700 block of Fountain Mesa Road and attempted to apprehend him.
During the confrontation, two officers fired at least one round each, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries while one officer was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

As per Colorado Revised Statute 16-2.5-301, the lead investigative agency for this incident is now the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). The CSPD will be responsible for releasing any information regarding their ongoing investigation into this officer-involved shooting.
The FPD has stated that all information regarding their officers involved in this incident will come directly from their department. Currently, these officers are on administrative leave as per FPD policy.
This is still an active and ongoing investigation and anyone with information or who may have witnessed this incident is urged to contact the Colorado Springs Police Department at (719) 444-7000.
