~ The City of Colorado Springs is taking steps to address the issue of homelessness in the community by updating its long-term response plan. The city is seeking feedback from the public on the draft of the updated plan, which aims to reflect the community's priorities and outline key strategies to combat homelessness.
The Housing and Community Vitality department will be hosting both an in-person and virtual meeting for members of the public to learn more about the plan and provide their input. The in-person meeting will take place on Thursday, August 15 from 1 to 2 p.m. at the City Administration Building, located at 30 S. Nevada Ave., Room 102. The virtual meeting will be held from 6 to 7 p.m.
Mayor Yemi Mobolade expressed his concern for public safety regarding homelessness in Colorado Springs, stating that while progress has been made in recent years, there is still more work to be done. He believes that this updated plan will help coordinate resources and prioritize funding in order to make a significant impact on reducing homelessness in the city.
