2.0 Software Release Helps ISPs Reduce Costs While Increasing Network Capacity and Resilience
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - ColoradoDesk -- netElastic, a leading innovator in software solutions for broadband ISPs, today announced the general availability of version 2.0 of its virtual Broadband Network Gateway (vBNG) and Carrier Grade Network Address Translation (CGNAT) software. netElastic's vBNG and CGNAT software delivers a high-performance solution that runs on cost-effective x86 servers to free ISPs from proprietary hardware lock-in.
The new 2.0 vBNG and CGNAT release delivers key benefits for service providers, including greater reliability through high availability, improved scalability to handle growing subscriber bases, enhanced performance and flexibility for network address translation, stronger support for dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 environments, compatibility with advanced networking hardware, and broader access-method options that simplify diverse deployment scenarios.
Key features in the new vBNG and CGNAT 2.0 software include:
These capabilities address critical operational needs for broadband providers facing rapid growth in connected devices, the ongoing transition to IPv6, and the requirement for always-on service reliability. Cluster high availability minimizes downtime during maintenance or unexpected failures. Advanced CGNAT features help conserve IPv4 addresses while improving traffic handling efficiency. Expanded dual-stack and access-method support allow operators to modernize networks without disrupting existing services, and hardware compatibility with high-speed Intel NICs ensures the software can keep pace with increasing traffic volumes.

Key features in the new vBNG and CGNAT 2.0 software include:
- Cluster HA – Supports session synchronization between two BNG routers to enable seamless failover between active and standby routers.
- Enhanced CGNAT flexibility – Supports rule matching priority setting and dynamic NAT enable/disable based on link availability.
- Improved CGNAT performance and scalability – Supports up to 250K private IP addresses on a single instance.
- Enhanced dual-stack support – Provides greater flexibility and adaptability for IPv4/IPv6 deployments.
- Intel E830 200G NIC support – Adds support for the Intel E830 200G NIC.
- Expanded access-method support – Adds support for additional access methods, such as VPWS and L3-flow-access, making the router more flexible in supporting diverse access scenarios.
