COLORADO SPRINGS ~ Colorado Springs - Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, along with University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) Chancellor Jennifer Sobanet, AFROTC Commander Colonel Michael G. Fleming, and other officials gathered today for the ribbon cutting ceremony of a new Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Operating Location at UCCS.

The new Operating Location, established under AFROTC Detachment 105 at the University of Colorado Boulder, will officially launch this fall. This will provide UCCS students with the opportunity to pursue a commission in both the United States Air Force and United States Space Force.

During the ceremony, Lt. Governor Primavera expressed her excitement for this new opportunity for students in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region. She stated, "This is what opportunity meeting a commitment to service looks like." She also emphasized that this program will allow cadets to graduate with both their college degree and a commission as a second lieutenant, ready to serve as future leaders in the Air Force and Space Force.

The addition of this detachment further strengthens Colorado's military and aerospace ecosystem, which includes Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, and United States Air Force Academy. With these resources in place, Colorado Springs is an ideal location for training the next generation of Air and Space Force leaders.

Chancellor Sobanet also expressed her gratitude for being part of a community that values military service. She stated, "The establishment of Detachment 105A at UCCS gives our students an incredible opportunity to prepare for lives of leadership and service in the Air Force and Space Force right here in Colorado Springs."

Today's ribbon cutting ceremony highlights Colorado's commitment to providing top-ranked education opportunities for its students.
