~ As February marks the beginning of Black History Month, the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum (CSPM) is proud to showcase the rich and intricate Black history of the Pikes Peak region. This celebration will continue throughout the year, with various exhibits, programs, and virtual galleries available for all to explore.
Leah Davis Witherow, CSPM Curator of History, expressed her excitement for this month's events. "We invite everyone to explore Black history at the CSPM all year through our exhibits, programs and virtual galleries," she stated. "During this special month, we look forward to sharing more stories with the community and providing opportunities for them to delve deeper into Black History in Colorado Springs."
The CSPM's permanent galleries, including Any Place That is North and West, The Story of Us, COS@150, 50% of the Story: Women Expressing Creativity, and their online Story of Us Mobile website feature stories that document how African Americans have played a significant role in shaping the Pikes Peak region socially, politically, intellectually, culturally and economically.
