CHICAGO - ColoradoDesk -- Pregis®, a global supplier of protective packaging, mailing and bagging solutions and flexible packaging continues to progress toward its 2040 net-zero commitment by expanding the use of renewable wind energy across additional U.S. manufacturing locations.
In 2025, Pregis matched 100 percent of the electricity consumed at 22 U.S. manufacturing facilities with wind power through renewable energy certificates, resulting in an estimated reduction of approximately 11,700 metric tons of market‑based Scope 2 emissions. According to the EPA's Greenhouse Gas Equivalencies calculator, this is comparable to the annual electricity use of more than 2,400 U.S. homes.
In 2024, the company matched 100 percent of their electricity use at six facilities with wind power, accounting for more than 4,000 metric tons of CO2e annually. Expanding this effort across 22 facilities in 2025 represents approximately 20 percent of the company's total Scope 2 emissions.
"As we scale our operations, it's critical that we scale our climate actions with the same discipline," said Kris Getty, Chief Sustainability Officer at Pregis. "Expanding our use of renewable electricity reflects steady, measurable progress toward our net-zero goal while maintaining transparency around how and when emissions reductions are calculated."
